This letter is to serve as a reference and to acknowledge Sycamore Construction for the work performed to the Copeland Cox Tennis Courts. As the Engineer of Record, I had to work closely with Robert to handle unexpected issues that arose. Sycamore Construction did a good job of handling the drainage problem with new trenches, piping and restoring the surrounding landscaping. They performed their work in a very professional manner.

Mr. Robert Costantini was the Project Manager on our new home at 1718 Alba A venue, in Mobile, Alabama.

We lost our original home due to Hurricane Katrina; the City of Mobile totaled the house requiring us to tear it down. Finding a reliable, trustworthy contractor was impossible. We had purchased a house plan from an on-line architect and began the process of trying to build according to the FEMA guidelines which required us to build on pilings.

Through a friend who was doing the piling work, we met Robert. I teased Robert that he was an angel from God; but seriously, he came on the scene with such enthusiasm and knowledge that we did think he was heaven sent. He took control, picked up the ball and the project started progressing. He began working with us when we were so very discouraged. His positive attitude along with his personable yet professional style was very encouraging and helpful.

Robert was very successful in working with our two very different opinions. He led us in the right direction on many decisions. He was honest and forthright, while still maintaining a relationship that was pleasant. Robert maintained and .pulled us through one of the hardest time of our lives. Robert knew we were working on a shoestring budget and went above and beyond to help us make the right choices of materials and vendors. He has great taste and style on what works to build a sturdy, elegant house.

Our house is incredible. It is the talk of Mobile. The Press Register wants to do an expose’ on the house and our experience. People see the house while driving down Dauphin Island Parkway, and they are drawn to our street. We actually have had people stopping and inquiring about the house, wanting to tour it.

We praise Robert every day to many people. He certainly knows what he is talking about and how to construct a house, or shall I say a “home”.

I am writing this letter to acknowledge the excellent work provided by Sycamore Construction Company during the renovation of the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences Mobile Alabama Medical Examiner’s Office located at 2451 Fillingim Street, Mobile Alabama 36617, colocated at the University of South Alabama Medical Center. This was an extremely difficult project because it was located at a hospital and the electrical, plumbing and security systems were all outdated and had to be replaced.

Beginning such an ambitious construction project begins with the selection of the best construction company for the project and we were fortunate to be able to select Sycamore Construction Company located in Daphne Alabama. During the pre-bid and bidding process it became evident that Sycamore Construction was the superior firm for the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences project.

We have worked very closely with Sycamore Construction Company for the past three (3) years and working with them has been a pleasure and it is an honor to be able to write this letter of recommendation in their behalf. They had the unique ability to respond to both our functional requirements and aesthetic dreams for our renovation project and they did it in a warm and respectful manner.

They were willing to take the time during the planning and schematic design phase to address all issues and fine tune the plan to our satisfaction before moving on to construction. From the beginning of the demolition continuing through the substantial completion we had little if any, questions regarding the construction that was not answered in a timely manner.

The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences Administration is proud to add our name to the many companies and organizations that are recommending Sycamore Construction Company of Daphne Alabama for future construction projects.

In closing, I want to commend Mr. Robert Costantini and his staff for their construction skills, customer service abilities and overall professionalism and hope all their future clients will formally recognize those qualities along with the company’s great potential. They have gained not only our admiration but that of our colleagues and everyone throughout the state who have seen the superior quality of their work.

I had the opportunity to work with Robert Costantini over the spring and summer of this year on the construction of a recreational building for the City of Gulf Shores, Alabama. The building housed concessions, restrooms, official’s dressing room and athletic storage space for the Johnny Sims Baseball Park. During the construction period on this project Robert exemplified dedication, the ability to coordinate subcontractors as well as the ability to deliver a project to the owner on time and on budget. Robert’s character and the energy he brings to the profession will continue to reap benefits to any project he is associated with.

As a Project Manager for the City of Mobile’s Architectural Engineering Department, I recently worked with Robert Constantini of Sycamore Construction on the addition of toilet/shower facilities to a building at Mobile’s Public Works Department.

We found Robert’s pricing to be competitive, and his work to be very satisfactory. He completed the original project scope ahead of schedule and within budget, and he worked closely with our department to resolve several unanticipated problems with this very old, somewhat poorly built structure.

We would be happy to work with Robert again.

Sincerely,
H. Louis Tooker, AIA
